Wow...I had to take a breather before I could even comment on this book. Like a lot of people, it struck a little too close to home for me. So many people, like myself, who were coming of age in the late 70's through the 80's have had someone stolen from them by this disease. It stuck seemingly out of nowhere because in my conservative, backwater little corner of the world, straight sex was rarely discussed, never mind gay sex and the only safe sex discussed was "no sex". And we remember all too clearly at that time, how our friends and loved ones not only had to hide who they were, but were treated like pariah when they were tagged with the AIDS diagnosis. God I hate this disease. This was such a powerful, deeply touching story. Thank you, Mr. Webb, for this remembrance of your friend, my friend, for all our friends who are now gone, but never forgotten. This book will go on my special shelf, along with the handful that have left an imprint on my soul.
