I would give this book 3 1/2 stars. It is a stream of consciousness treatise on the federal prison system in the US. It is a fascinating reading experience which portrays very pointedly that our prison system as a whole is expensive and very ineffectual, locking many people up for all the wrong reasons and offering very little to them that helps them improve their lives. For all the money we devote to it, we can and should do better.
